Cadiz, like the rest of Andalucia, has plenty to see and do and a wonderful culture. Here are some of the cultural events and sights of the province:-

Sherry – Visit the bodegas of Jerez de la Frontera, the sherry centre of the World.

Pueblos Blancos – The white chalk coated mountain villages of the Sierra.

The Royal Andalucian School of Equestrian Art – see shows of the famous white dancing stallions.

Ruta del Torro – The tourist trail covering the area where bulls are raised for bull-fighting. The trail runs between the towns of Tarifa and Jerez de la Frontera.

Carnival de Cadiz – The world famous carnival which is known for its chirigotas, satirical singing groupswho sing about politics and modern times. It is the third largest carnival in the world after Rio de Janeiro and Trinidad.

Feria de Jerez or Feria del Caballo – It is celebrated in May and its origins are in farmers getting together to sell horses and livestock and enjoying sherry at the same time! It involves enjoying sherry, drinks and food from “casetas”, little restaurants, dancing and rides such as rollercoasters.

Semana Santa – The celebrations of Holy Week which take place throughout the province and involve processions and parades.

Horse racing – Sanlucar de Barrameda is famous for its horse racing which dates back to 1845 and which takes place on the beach.

Circuito Permanente de Jerez – This is a 4,428m racing circuit in Jerez de la Frontera. It has hosted Formula 1 Grands Prix and Moto Grands Prix.
