Not only is Malaga a wonderful cosmopolitan city, it is also home to many miles of beautiful sandy beaches which are bordered by the Pablo Ruiz Picasso Promenade. The main city beaches are:-
- Playa de la Malegueta – This is the closest beach to Malaga City centre and it is a popular beach due to its golden sand, proximity to the city centre and its great facilities. The beach is 1.5km long and has a strip of restaurants and bars which are buzzing day and night, and offer great nightlife. During the day, chiringuitos (beach bars) offer refreshments and tapas, and local seafood can be enjoyed at one of the many seafront restaurants.

- Playa de la Caleta – This city beach is the next one along from La Malegueta and is 1km long. It is sandy, clean and has great facilities.
- Playa de Pedregalejo (Las Acacias) – A fantastic family beach which offers great facilities, disabled access and clean sand.
- Playa del Palo – This beach is situated in the El Palo area, Malaga's original fishing community and is a great place to enjoy a family day at the beach with the opportunity to try tasty seafood.
All of the Malaga City beaches can be reached by taking the number 11 bus from the Paseo del Parque. The Playas de la Malegueta and La Caleta can both be very busy, being the main urban beaches, so you may want to try the other two.
