Benalmadena, Spain, is on the Costa del Sol between the resorts of Torremolinos and Fuengirola, just 15km from Malaga Airport.
This part of the Costa del Sol is known for its well-established and built up resorts, with Benalmadena and Torremolinos being two of the best known, and its wide variety of attractions.
Benalmadena is actually made up of three parts - Benalmadena Costa, which stretches 9km along the coast and is popular with tourists, Benalmadena Pueblo (Benalmadena Village) and Arroyo de la Miel.
Benalmadena Costa
Benalmadena Costa is what most people are talking about when they say "Benalmadena". This is the main resort of Benalmadena and it offers:-
- Beaches - Benalmadena has lovely, golden sandy beaches, just what the Costa del Sol is famous for! Benalmadena beaches include Malapesquera Beach, Arroyo Beach, Torre Bermeja Beach, Santa Ana Beach, Arroyo Hondo, Torrevijia, Benalnatura (nudist), Las Yucas Beach (part nudist), Viborillas Beach, Torremuelle Beach, La Morera, Tajo de Soga Beach, Beach and Carajel Beach. The Beaches have great facilities and water sports are also on offer.
If you prefer quieter beaches, try Tajo de Soga, La Perla or Arroyo Hondo.
- Benalmadena Marina - This fantastic award-winning marina offers nightlife, watersports, port and aquarium (Sea Life Centre).
- Restaurants - Tasty food can be found in the beach restaurants (chiringuitos), the Marina restaurants and around the seafront. There are also plenty of bars, including English and Irish bars.
- Nightlife - Live music, bars, discos, clubs, salsa dancing and more! Benalmadena has a brilliant nightlife and clubbing scene. Try the Marina or the Solimar Plaza.
- Theme Parks -For fun family days out, try the Sea Life Centre, Jardin de Las Aguilas (garden of eagles - birds of prey centre),Tivoli World or Selwo Marina.
- Accommodation - Ranging from Benalmadena hotels, all-inclusive hotels, through to self-catering apartments. There are also many villa rentals in the area.
Arroyo de la Miel
This is the town area, or commercial zone, of Benalmadena between the coastline and Benalmadena Pueblo. It is a busy modern town and is the location of the train station which links Benalmadena to Fuengirola and Malaga.

- Tivoli World - The Tivoli World amusement park is a great family day out.
- The cable car - The Teleferico cable car is a great way to see the coastline and to take in the wonderful breathtaking views.
- Bars and restaurants - Arroyo has a great choice of restaurants and bars.
- Sports - The Leisure Centre (Polideportivo Municipal) offers a great chocie of sports activities.
- Accommodation - Arroyo has a great choice of self-catering apartments for holidaymakers.
Benalmadena Pueblo
The hillside Benalmadena Pueblo is the original village of Benalmadena. It is located above Benalmadena Costa and Arroyo de la Miel, at 300m above sea level.
Benalmadena Pueblo is a traditional white-washed Andalucian pueblo whose attractions include:-
- Its traditional Spanish charm.
- Its narrow, winding, cobbled streets.
- Museums and archaeological sites where you can learn about the ancient civilizations which once inhabited the area - Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Greeks and Moors.
- Bars - Enjoy traditional Spanish tapas at the Pueblo's Spanish bars.
