Malaga Province, on the southern coast of Spain, is the home of Spain's famous Costa del Sol coastline with its weath of attractions - Costa del Sol beaches, Malaga City with its cultural and historical attractions, mountain pueblos blancos (white-washed villages), busy resorts like Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Marbella , pretty Ronda and Antequera, and the El Chorro Gorge, to name just a few attractions! The province is also the location of one of Andalucia's main airports, Malaga Airport.
Malaga Province is 7,308 square kilometres in area and it borders with the other Andalucian provinces of Granada, Cordoba, Seville (Sevilla) and Cadiz.
The comarcas (like counties) that make up Malaga Province are:-
- Antequera - This comarca in the north of the province includes the towns of Alameda Antequera, Casabermeja, Fuente de Piedra, Humilladero and Mollina.
Antequera town is a beautiful, historic, market town which dates back over 5,000 years and which is located in the Rio Guadalhorce valley about 40km from Malaga City.The town is known for its dolmens (megalithic tombs made of huge, flat stones), its churches, 13th century Moorish fortress, Roman baths and the 16th century Arch of Giants.
Attractions in the vicinity include the Lagoon of Fuente de Piedra (or Pink Lagoon) which is used by migrating flamingos, The El Torcal Nature Reserve and the amazing El Chorro limestone gorge.
- Axarquia - The Axarquia comarca is Malaga's easternmost comarca and borders with the province of Granada. Its many municipalities form what is known as The Costa del Sol Oriental and its most well-known towns are Velez-Malaga, Competa, Frigiliana, Nerja, Salares, Rincon de la Victoria and Torrox.

Nerja's attractions include its famous caves with Paleoloithic wall paintings, the Gardens of Capistrano Playa, the 17th century El Salvador Church and its beaches. Torrox offers a pretty white pueblo with Baroque church, the Torrox Costa sandy beaches and Roman remains.
Frigiliana is an award-wining, pretty hillside village which was a Moorish settlement. Frigliana attractions include its views over the Rio Higueron and Chillar Valley, and the Old Town area with its mosaics, white houses and narrow streets. Velez-Malaga (or Velez) is known for its olives and wine, 13th century castle, Palacio de los Marqueses de Beniel, convents and monasteries, and historic churches. Rincon de la Victoria has the Cueva del Tesoro, a marine cave which, according to legend, has secret hidden treasure.
- Guadalteba - This comarca is found in northern Malaga andis known for its wonderful natural beauty, the Teba Gorge, the village of Teba with its Moorish castle ruins and Baroque church, and the outdoor activities that it offers - horseriding, kayaking, hiking and paragliding.
- Costa del Sol Occidental - This Costa del Sol comarca is one of the best known areas of the Costa del Sol and is situated in the south-east of the province. Tourists from all over the world enjoy holidays Costa del Sol in the vibrant resorts of Benahavis, Benalmadena, Estepona , Fuengirola, Marbella , Mijas and Torremolinos. These resorts offer a vast array of hotels Costa del Sol, Costa del Sol apartments and villa rentals, a wealth of attractions and, of course, the great Costa del Sol weather!

- Malaga - The Comarca Metropolitana de Malaga covers Malaga City . The city of Malaga is home to the area's airport and has many attractions, which include a cathedral, Alcazaba and castle, Malaga City beaches , the Picasso Museum (Museo Picasso), botanical gardens, shops and boutiques, and much more.
- Nororma or Comarca Nororiental de Malaga - This north-eastern comarca borders with Cordoba and Granada, and is made up of seven towns - Archidona, Cuevas Bajas, Cuevas de San Marcos, Villanueva de Algaidas, Villanueva del Rosario, Villanueva del Trabuco and Villanueva de Tapia. It is an area known for its mountains and protected natural areas.
- Valle de Guadalhorce (Algarbia) - The Guadalhorce Valley comarca is made up of 8 towns - Alhaurín de la Torre, Alhaurín el Grande, Almogía, Álora, Cártama, Coín, Pizarra and Valle de Abdalajís. It is a fertile area, known as La Huerta de Malaga (the orchard or market garden of Malaga) and its main town is Coin.All of these towns are pretty, being nestled in the valley, and are also very historic.
- Serrania de Ronda -This western comarca covers the mountain range around the beautiufl town of Ronda. It is an area of glorious mountains and ravines, cork forests, diverse flora and fauna, white pueblos and superb walking and cycling trails. Towns and villages worth visiting include Montejaque, Benajoan with its Paleolithic cave paintings and 16th century church, Juzcar in the Genal Valley, and the stunning town of Ronda. - Sierra de las Nieves -This comarca is found to the north of Marbella, in central Malaga. It is an area of natural park which covers the towns and villages of Alozaina, Casarabonela, El Burgo, Guaro, Istán, Monda, Ojén, Tolox and Yunquera. The area is known for its mountains which are snow-covered in winter, its diverse wildlife, its caves and potholes, and its natural beauty.
